The My Home Run series follows six paddlers from the Northeast to their favorite local runs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>The Moose<\/strong> is an interesting river. You have in about a 20-mile stretch pieces of river that are appropriate for almost every ability level.\u201d At nearly 70 years old, Chris still loves the challenge of big drops and technical creeks, but convenience, fun, and good company have become equally important over the years.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\"  width=\"970\" height=\"546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rDqxh1wOJBU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAt the Moose, you show up, you hang out, you get on the river, you get off and a half-hour later you\u2019re in Old Forge on a comfortable bar stool ordering beef dip at Slickers.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The changing of the seasons can be rough. It means saying goodbye to mountain biking and rock climbing. It means waiting around to go kayaking. But it\u2019s the in-between that\u2019s the hardest. When the cabin fever sets in and you get antsy. \u201cIt\u2019s never a good idea to go out and play in the water when it\u2019s 30 degrees,\u201d but for Michael Hunt, that\u2019s when the <strong>South Sandy<\/strong> runs, and you go when it runs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\"  width=\"970\" height=\"546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fLvpSM_FNck?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s like you hit the reset button and now everything is good again.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI think sitting in that last eddy above One Whistle Falls is one of the loneliest eddies in the world. You start thinking about what\u2019s important to you, who is important to you, why you\u2019re taking these risks. And then you have to go, because there\u2019s no other choice.\u201d\u00a0Once you\u2019ve chosen to paddle <strong>Brokeback Gorge<\/strong>, there\u2019s no going back.
