Deep in Patagonia, where <em>gauchos<\/em> still ride horses down dirt roads, an undertone of machismo lingers. Kayaking, like any \u201crough\u201d sport associated with adrenaline and risk, hasn\u2019t really been an option. By foreigners and men, sure, but teenage <em>Chilenas?<\/em> Almost never.<\/p>\n<p>Chicas al Agua changed everything.<\/p>\n<p>A completely free program, led by an all-female instructor team, Chicas al Agua teaches the young women of Futaleuf\u00fa to kayak and to care for the river.
