Once again, on Friday, November 24, we\u2019re turning off the lights, hanging up the gone boatin\u2019<\/em> sign and heading outside to\u00a0spend time with our families on Black Friday in places that we love.<\/p>\n

What draws us to water is what drives us every day at NRS. Stroll through our headquarters in Moscow, Idaho and you\u2019ll meet passionate rafters, whitewater kayakers, sea kayakers, stand up paddlers, kayak anglers and fly fishermen. Whether designing gear, assembling products, creating catalogs, answering phone calls or shipping orders, we are dedicated to providing the equipment, expertise and inspiration that empowers adventures on the water.<\/p>\n

But we can’t discriminate against adventuring off the water, too. Those kayakers and fly fishermen that answer your boating questions and pack your new gear to safely arrive on your doorstep are also avid hikers and hunters, mountain bikers and climbers, skiers and snowboarders, trail runners\u00a0and triathletes. So when we say we’re opting out, we won’t all be on the river, but we’ll all be outside.<\/p>\n

NRS was founded on the idea that business could be a source of value and satisfaction in our lives and communities, not just a way to make a buck. We are passionate about our business because our business supports our passion, and #OptOutside gives our employee-owners another opportunity to prove this idea true.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the heart of the Opt Outside movement is the suggestion that life is more than a day shopping or at the office,\u201d wrote NRS CEO Bryan Dingel in a company-wide email last year.\u00a0\u201cWe find solidarity in this statement because it\u2019s part of who we are as individuals, and of the company we have created together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the online resources at nrs.com<\/a> will be up and running as usual on Black Friday, all NRS operations will be closed for business. We hope you\u2019ll join us in going outside instead of shopping.<\/p>\n
